MagicTalk is free, so you should be just fine. But, you don’t need to worry about dialing all that extra junk when using MagicTalk, Because your MagicTalk number should now be the same as your MagicJack number.

Hello to you. I just saw your issue with magic jack not working and it has been quite a long while ago. I had the same issue two weeks ago.. and their support did many things to fix it without success — including changing the configuration in my router. The final fix???? was executing a command from the dos window. “sfc /scannow” It found a system file that was corrupted and fixed it. The corruption had previously not seemed to be affecting anything else… weird… and it has worked like a charm ever since.

I own a majicjack and it upgraded itself to majictalk on its own. I am only about four months into my year and now I have to pay again? I would ask them, but you own one so you know how their customer service is. lol So, what do I do from here?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling it on your computer, as well as checking your firewall settings? when mine did that, it was because I'd had an auto update to my Windows Firewall, and at blocked MagicJack from even accessing the internet. MagicJack's customer care and live chat works well, you should hit them up and have them fix the problem for you. http://www.magicjack.com/customercare.asp.

What the heck is happening with Magic Jack? I have previously purchased a Magic Jack device and 5 years of service. Presently, Magic “Jack” does not work. I am unable to connect. The restart does not connect. I got magic Jack so I could dump my cell phones and their yearly contracts contracts for prepaid cell phones and home phones connected to the Magic Jack device. I have been real happy with this system for the last 6 months. What happens to my 5 year contract with Magic Jack if I upgrade to Magic Talk??

How do I get Magic Jack to work again?? Do I have to upgrade to Magic Talk to use my home phone again?

Please give me a response I can understand!!

Why is MagicJack now charging existing MagicJack customers additional fees to use a software application as an additional device.? Because the Magic Jack hardware is usually defective and does not work properly.

VocalTec’s CEO said on Aug. 10 that magicTalk would be released “next week.” He said it *three* times (in the Oppenheimer conference). Today is Sep. 11 and nobody’s heard another word.

At the same time, magicJack underwent a backdoor IPO (through the purchase of VocalTec). The new stock was being *massively* pumped and dumped. One has to wonder whether VocalTec’s CEO wasn’t part of that manipulation.

And, at the same time, VocalTec (magicJack) began blocking calls to hundreds of thousands of phone numbers in the US. No explanation, and offering refunds to affected customers. People are complaining to the FCC, FTC elected officials. VocalTec is violating FCC rules against blocking calls to LECs.

VocalTec is blocking rural phone numbers because those local exchanges can charge more. One has to wonder how this factors into all the undelivered hype about “free calls” and “next week” (back on Aug. 10).

Really, how could VocalTec’s CEO not know what was happening just a week before the service was to be released? How could he choose to violate FCC rules? And, worse, create a condition of false advertising? (The product says “call anywhere” but VocalTec is blocking hundreds of thousands of phone numbers.).

MagicJack doesn’t have the greatest reputation for business practices. The past few weeks contribute to the perception.

Will magic talk work with satellite internet? I can I talk to someone about this product?
