USF Fees or Taxes

Why is there a USF Fee or Tax on my bill?

The USF fee is mandated by the FCC that goes to schools, roads, and supporting phone services for the poor and needy in your area. The phone companies are not allowed to make a profit like they used to on this fee. Before it was common for companies to charge consumers 10-15%, while only being charged 5% by the FCC. Now this is regulated and varies throughout the year based on the needs of the fund.
