Phone Bill Audits Save Money

A phone bill audit should be done at least once a year, or anytime new services or lines are added or subtracted from an account. A phone audit can show you where you're losing money, and give you a chance to do something about it. I've seen companies come in with $1000.00+ monthly phone bills, and leave with bills that were under $200.00 per month. Companies that are willing to test a VoIP line to see how service is in their area, with their high speed internet provider, have the potential to save even more if the VoIP works out for them.

While there's nothing you can do about actual taxes on your phone service (Except switching to VoIP), you need to know that most of the taxes are figured as a percentage of the bill. What that means is that if you have a $200.00 phone bill, your taxes will be almost twice as much as someone with a $100.00 phone bill. So, finding a cheaper local and long distance carrier can end up lowering your telecom taxes too. Another thing to keep in mind here is that VoIP companies currently only charge the 3% federal telecom tax, where regular land line phone companies have local, city, county and state taxes to contend with. These local type taxes, to the state level, are the taxes that really jack your phone bill through the roof.
