Magic Talk, from the creators of Magic Jack, looks to be a creation that will make regular phone companies quake in their boots. It looks like Magic Talk will be a softphone app that lets users make free phone calls from their computers, smartphones, and iPads. The difference is that while companies like Skype let users call other Skype members on computers for free, Skype charges users for calls to actual phones. The new Magic Talk softphone system won't charge users to make calls to CP's, landline phones or cell phones.

I tried to get more information on Magic Talk, but if you type in MagicTalk.com right now, their system just forwards you to a regular MagicJack webpage. While Magicjack is a great service, and does come with a softphone system, it would be nice to see, and test out, the new MagicTalk service. (It would also be nice to be able to get some information on the new MagicTalk Affiliate program, if they are going to set one up...)
Magic FemtoCell*
Last but not least, I hear that Vocaltec is trying to bring a Femtocell device to market, but that they are having problems because of frequency issues. Cell phone companies buy the frequencies that they use, and so a Femtocell product, by law, would have to have a low enough output, so that the carrier waves didn't leave the building they were in. So, unless Vocaltec can find a carrier that is willing to let them use their fequencies to build a FemtoCell device, it looks like their Magic FemtoCell product is on hold.
* FemtoCell is the new technology of building a device that sends cell phone signals over the internet via WiFi, instead of sending them over cell phone towers. The cell phone then works just like an internet phone, instead of a cell phone, so the calls are free instead of using minutes that you pay for through your cell phone service provider.
