I’m getting a ton of emails from customers of Powernet Global right now. It seems that Qwest raised PNG’s rates, so PNG decided to switch carriers. So, they sent a letter out to all of the customers who needed to be moved to a new carrier, and all hell broke loose.
From what I can gather, customers are being asked to PICC themselves over to Verizon at 0555 or WilTel at 5102. Then, they are being asked to call 1-700-555-4141 to confirm that the switch has taken place. Well, that number isn’t working, and customers are calling PNG and waiting on hold for 3 days before passing out from hunger and lack of water….
So, who’s to blame here? Is it that the letter was either a little ambiguous, or is it that the customers didn’t read the letter all the way through, or is it just that everyone involved is an ID 10 Tango (Police Parlance for Idiot…)?
Maybe someone ought to drop me a line that with a copy of the letter so that I know who to make fun of and who to leave alone in this fiasco. LOL

I received one of these letters. It says my rates are going to go up if I do not switch to Verizon 0555. The three steps to follow are:
1. Contact your local phone company and ask them to change your long distance carrier to Verizon 0555.
2. To ensure the change is complete dial 1-700-555-4141 and a recording will confirm the long distance carrier.
3. In the event your local phone company charges you any fees to completer this task. Powernet Global will credit your account for that amount. Call us if you have any questions..
My question is does the Verizon 0555 plan cost a monthly fee? I work late and have not been able to to get a call into my local phone company.
I sent PNG that question and they did not give a straight answer.
Switching to Verizon won’t cost you any more money than what you’re paying right now to PNG for long distance phone service. PNG is having you switch to Verizon as their new underlying carrier to save you money. This is because Qwest was charging PNG so much to carry their long distance traffic, that PNG would have had to raise your rates if you stayed with Qwest as your carrier.
You need to try to make time to call your local phone company and make the switch, since it will end up saving you money. If you don’t switch, you may end up paying whatever Qwest wants to charge you. (I had a customer self PICC her service to MCI once, and they charged her over $4.00 per minute.) So, it’s not going to be safe for you to leave your phone service where it is!
If you absolutly can’t get in touch with your local phone company, then switch your long distance service. Try the rate calculators at Calling-Plans.com or CommissionRiver.com for long distance rate comparisons.
