Long Distance Phone Service

If you would like some help picking the best calling plan for the type of long distance calling you do, email me the following information please:

  • Your area code and prefix.
  • How many minutes of long distance you use each month.
  • How many toll free numbers you have, or need, to order.
  • A list of any countries you call on a regular basis.
  • And finally, whether or not you are interested in trying VoIP Phone Service.

After I get your information, I will check and see which companies are currently offering the best phone service, customer service and calling plans in your area, and then send you a list of the best overall companies. More than likely, it will be TCI or Pioneer Telephone, unless you are willing to try VoIP.

Most Ordered Long Distance Calling Plans for Yesterday, March-16-2010:

Pioneer Telephone 2.7¢

Pioneer offers low rates and great customer service. They get your phone provisioned the fastest overall, and they're rates start at 1.9¢ per minute to other Pioneer customers, or 2.7¢ to non-Pioneer customers. More Pioneer Telephone Information

total Call International

Total Call International's state to state rates are higher that Pioneer's, but their overall rates are cheaper when you figure in that their 3¢ rate is billed in 6 second increments instead of full minute rounding like Pioneer's, and their instate rates are lower. At least that's what seems to be the case, since we are selling a ton of TCI right now, especially to businesses. Use the rate calculator to compare rates. TCI's rates will probably be cheaper. More Total Call International Information

Opex 2.7¢

Opex has been on the top of the list off and on for the last 8 years or so. They used to have the fastest provisioning time, hands down, and now run a really close second to Pioneer. Opex's rates are low, at 2.7¢, and, like Pioneer, you can sign up your business or home for their long distance service. More Opex Information

Powernet Global 3.9¢

Powernet Global is a good all around company with really low international calling rates. They have domestic calling for 3.9¢ per minute for business and home users. PNG has been around a long time and they're customer service and provisioning times are both good. More Powernet Global Information

ECG 2.5¢

ECG offers service for 2.5¢ per minute, and their customer service and provisioning are good. They are a smaller company, but have been around for awhile and have a good track record. Their long distance is available for business users and well as home phone users. More ECG Long Distance Information

Covista / Capsule Communications 2.5¢

Covista is a good discount carrier, with rates starting at 2.5¢. Covista also rounds in 6 second increments, so they are really good at saving customers money on their phone bills. They did have some trouble with long call waiting times in the past, so that's why they're not on the top of the list. More Covista Information

Long Distance Calling Plans

We have a list of the top 10-12 phone companies in America who are offering discount long distance telephone service. The regular land line companies offering service are listed on the long distance phone page, and include low cost telecom corporations such as Opex, Unitel, Pioneer Telephone and Powernet Global. All of these telecommunications businesses offer low rates and good service, so feel free to compare the rate offered by each telephone company.

Home Phone Service

There aren't very many local choices for phone service if you want a land line, but don't want to go with your local baby bell. Cleartel and Powernet Global offer local service in around half the states in the Union, but most of the other local carriers that tried to take on the Baby Bells didn't last very long. Go to our local home phone service page if you would like to see what these companies are currently offering. Cleartel is currently offering an unlimited calling plan in most states.

Cheap Cell Phone Plans

Mobile phone carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Nextel and Alltel all offer free cellular phones with their wireless plans. Take a look at our cell phone provider page to see the hottest cell phone deal going, or just enter your zip code in the search box and see the best cell phone plans in your area. Just remember, if we can't get it for you for free, or cheap, we can at least get it for you for "cheaper" than 99% of the other cell providers around.

Internet Calling Plans

Voice over IP phone plans are all the rage right now, and rightly so. When you can get unlimited phone service through your broadband connection for less than $20.00 per month, what's not to be excited about. If you are looking for an internet telephone plan for your home or office, visit our internet phone service page and sign up with a digital or VoIP phone company today. Get unlimited internet calling for less that $20.00 per month from many of these discount carriers. (Canadian users should order their VoIP phone service from one of these two Canadian VoIP providers.)

Calling Cards

Lots of times you can use calling cards as a dial around services on your home phone. Many people don't even sign up for long distance any more because they can just get a local dial tone and then use calling cards to make any long distance calls they need to make. You can get calling cards for about 2 minutes per penny, which is way cheaper than anything else out their, so if you're willing to punch in the extra numbers to dial around your phone company's system, you will save money.

Conference Calling Plans

With the price of gas and plane tickets going through the roof, conference calling is a cheap way to get the whole company together to go over the corporation's books without putting them in the red. If you have a company to run, or just a large family to visit with, conference calling can greatly reduce the amount of money you have to pay for travel and your monthly phone bill. Conference calling starts at less than 4 cents per minute, and a lot of the plans offer a free trial period, so try one out today.

In Conclusion

Cheap phone service and discount calling plans can really help customers save money. Comparing rates is a great way to find the cheapest local or long distance carrier in your town, city or state, and can help you save money on your monthly phone bill. If you need help with plan comparisons, please email me at help@calling-plans.com and I will help you find the telephone service that is the cheapest, and is the best fit, for your type of calling pattern.
