Sprint and Verizon will Begin to Offer EA Games

Sprint and Verizon, rival wireless companies, announced that they have teamed up with Electronic Arts Inc, to offer EA games to their subscribers. They will offer popular EA Games including "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2006" and "Poppit!"

Cell phone gaming is a growing avenue for the video game industry and there is hope to generate revenue through downloads. The games can be downloaded, but users need properly equipped phones because of the graphics and memory required to run the applications. Games will be available through Sprint's Game Lobby.

John Batter, the vice president and general manager of EA Mobile said, "With our extensive line-up of 3D games, EA is using state-of-the-art technology to deliver the most powerful line-up of hit games available."

EA games is planning on releasing 15-20 new games for mobile use this next year, in hopes of brining in an estimated $25 million.
