Cell Phones use Increases

Young adults nation wide are doing away with landlines and are relying on cell phone use only. This new trend poses several problems including the lack of landline use, which decreases income and tax produced from landline phones.

To help make up for the loss of landline use many cities are beginning to implement cell phone taxes that would increase a customer's cell phone bill to help generate the revenue that is lost from the landline tax.

Another problem that exists with cell phones taking over is the inability to poll wireless users, especially during election times. Wireless polls are hard to initiate because of the legal restrictions on automated dialing, cell phones are minute based and customers would prefer not to lose minutes to a survey, and currently there isn't a way to account for wireless users in a poll group. Younger generations are missing the poll and are not being accounted for during election times.

Even though wireless rates are rocketing there are some disadvantages to cell phone use only such as unreliably of service and static as well as 911 systems and fax and alarm systems currently require a landline for use. Is there a need for both? Landline providers would argue that there is a need for landlines and cell phone providers would argue for wireless.
