Motorola Droid: The Next Big Thing

Fans of Motorola may have something to look forward to on December 1, 2009 as the phone manufacturer together with Verizon will supposedly be rolling out the Motorola Droid on that day. The Droid is being touted as the rival to Apple’s iPhone.

To avoid any confusion, the Droid is the name of the new model that was previously named Motorola Sholes and Motorola Tao. On the leading edge of mobile operating systems, the Droid is being equipped with Android 2.0 which will give users a similar feel of browsing on a PC.

Early reports have the smartphone being fitted with a powerful processor which will help users with their Flash and HTML viewing experience as well as the ability to playback enhanced 3D graphics, videos and load up websites twice as fast as other smartphones on the market. The Motorola Droid is also proud to be the first to have collaborated the design of this smartphone along with Google.

Hence, the Droid has the ability to search the entire phone, going deep into all its applications to give users the information that they need. In addition these search commands can be typed or voiced recognized searches.

When connected to your PC the Droid can sync over your entire existing Google Chrome bookmarks to your phone so you will always have your favorite websites at the palm of your hand. With Google as a deep contributor to the functions of the Droid, a point to point voice narrated GPS using Google Maps is also installed. You’ll never be lost on your adventures ever again.

Other fine points of the phone are still under way but a few of them have already hit the internet. These features include a large 3.7 inch WVGA, 480×854 pixel; 16:9 widescreen, a 5 megapixel digital still camera with Dual LED flash, 4x zoom and automatic focus as well as video recording, an unbelievably thin QWERTY keyboard that slides out of the unit and a pre-installed 16 GB microSD memory which can be expanded to 32 GB.
