Bell Canada adds Hosted VoIP service for Small and Medium Business
August 11, 2005
TORONTO, ON, Aug. 11 /CNW Telbec/Press Release - Bell Canada today announced the
launch of Business IP Voice, an exciting new addition to its portfolio of
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) products designed for Canadian small and
medium businesses (SMB). Business IP Voice offers choice for customers that
want to leverage Internet-based voice services that are affordable, easy-to-
use, and drive business opportunities.
"Business IP Voice is changing the way voice services are delivered to
customers and how our SMB customers will use innovative technology to drive
business success," said Karen Sheriff, President, Small and Medium Business at
Bell Canada. "As business customers begin to explore and take advantage of the
benefits and power of VoIP they will gain confidence knowing they can do so at
the pace of their business with Bell as their trusted technology advisor."
Bell understands that Canadian SMBs face greater competition than ever
across diverse industries, and therefore require a technology partner that can
provide innovative technology solutions that deliver business advantages often
only available to large corporations.
For example, a home-based business person can now take their office
wherever they go and still be connected regardless of location and device
using Bell IP Voice. A small construction firm can connect to field employees
at a remote construction site by using the secondary phone line feature that
allows remote employees to connect to the company's primary business line
without incurring long distance charges. Professional services firms such as a
law office or accounting firm can leverage Business IP Voice to manage costs
and collaborate on projects easily through online data management and
Business IP Voice comes with a full set of calling features including
Caller ID, Call Display, Call Forwarding and Call Answer and includes
innovative IP-based communication features, such as:
- Call Forwarding and Find Me/Follow Me - providing a single number for
customers to call or forward to any device
- Meet Me Conferencing - providing a dedicated, reservation-free
conferencing tool that allows real-time consulting between employees,
partners, suppliers and customers, - Online Web Portal - providing a
management tool to review and modify account features and services
- Voicemail to e-mail - providing the ability to forward a voice mail
message as an attachment to an e-mail account
- Secondary Phone Numbers - allowing businesses to have a local presence
in multiple cities and providing customers the option to call a local
secondary phone line that rings on your primary business line without
incurring long distance charges.
Business IP Voice works on any high-speed Internet connection, DSL or
Cable. The easy two-step installation process simply requires the customer to
plug a standard phone into a small digital device that is connected to the
Internet and activate their account using the Bell Business IP Voice web
portal.
Today's launch of Business IP Voice for SMBs follows the launch of other
hosted and premise-based IP voice communications services that the company
began to market to its entire customer base, such as Managed IP Telephony for
mid-size and large enterprise customers and Bell Digital Voice for the
consumer marketplace. For more information on Bell's Business IP Voice service, please visit
