1010 Long Distance Numbers
Signing Up For A 1010-XXX Numbered Service:
Most 1010 long distance numbering companies offer about the same plans and rates, ranging from 3.9¢ per minute to 6.9¢ per minute, so I've just picked a couple that I thought were pretty good for you to use if you need a dial around plan. Those of you in the know will notice that I didn't list Vartec below, that is because their new plans have high monthly fees (and, if you wanted high monthly fees, you could just stay with your old long distance carrier. Right?).
Here are directions on how to make a 1010 call.
Powernet Global Powerdial Dial Around Plan:
We used to have a list of a bunch of companies offering 1010 long distance service, but most of those companies went out of business. Now all we have left is Powerdial from powernet Global. The Powerdial plan is really good, but they charge 6.4¢ per minute, which isn't exactly cheap any more. But, if you really want a dial around plan, this one has really great international rates.
1010phonerates.com:
Try this company if you really want to see all the 1010 companies left out there. They keep a better up to date service listing than we do. Good Luck!
How do you make a telephone call using a 1010 Number?
To make a long distance call using 1010 numbers, you need to start by signing up with one of the above plans so that your telephone number is on file in the 1010 numbering companies database. Once you have signed up for service, iether follow the directions they gave you when you signed up, or use the generic 1010 calling steps below.
- Pick up the phone.
- Dial 1010-XXX. Where XXX is the rest of the 1010 number.
- Then Dial the number as you regularly would. i.e. 1-555-555-5555.
- The end. Now wasn't that easy?
